DESCRIPTION

Big mountain skiers, listen up: The new Backland 109 backcountry touring ski from Atomic is here to exceed your expectations. This more environmentally friendly ski takes improved floatation, excellent uphill performance and reduced weight to a new level.

Featuring an innovative construction with a FreeTour Profile that uses more poplar wood and less metal, fibreglass and resin, the Backland 109 offers a harmonious flex pattern that provides agility in changing snow conditions. With a centre width of 109mm and a lightweight HRZN 3D shovel, floatation in powder is optimised, while an ash wood insert improves the tear-out resistance of the binding. The Ultra Light Woodcore, made from poplar and Karuba wood, guarantees not only low weight but also top stability.

The Powder Rocker combines a pronounced lift in the tip and tail of the ski with a preload under the binding, which enables effortless steering and playful performance in powder, crushed snow and broken harsh terrain.

Designed by Chris Rubens, the Backland 109 is the ultimate freeride touring tool with an unbeatable performance-to-weight ratio. Ideal for skiers who want to make a more sustainable choice without sacrificing high performance.
