Before you start waxing, it is crucial to freshen up the base of your skis. The steel brush plays an important role here. It is used as the first brush after hot waxing and scraping, even before the horsehair brush, to thoroughly prepare the skis and effectively remove old wax residue.
The steel brush is also ideal for deep cleaning the base after cleaning the glide zone. If very soft waxes are used, it is advisable to use the horsehair brush first and then finish off with a horsehair or nylon brush. This ensures that the base is optimally prepared for the new wax.
When using the brush, it is recommended to use a drill with a minimum speed of 1800 rpm to achieve the best results. Run the brush in overlapping movements from the tip of the ski to the end of the ski to ensure an even treatment of the base.
Please note: It is advisable to lightly sand a new steel brush with #100 grit sandpaper before using it for the first time. In addition, the brush should always be used in the same direction of rotation to maximize the effectiveness and service life of the brush.
